Based at the Institute of Human Genetics (at the International Centre for Life) and Department of Ophthalmology (Royal Victoria Infirmary); Newcastle University you will work on a 3 year MRC project led by Dr Francisco Figueiredo (PI), Prof Majlinda Lako and Dr Sajjad Ahmad investigating Limbal Stem Cell deficiency (LSCD), a disease caused by the loss of limbal stem cells. You will have completed or be near the end of a higher surgical training (or equivalent) in Ophthalmology and be interested in a career in the field of anterior segment eye diseases, including stem cell deficiency and its management you will also be expected to complete a PhD in limbal stem cell biology/transplantation during the period of employment.
Some experience in scientific research would therefore be an advantage.
