Based in the Institute of Human Genetics you will work on a 3 year Medical Research Council project, led by Dr Sajjad Ahmad, Dr Francisco Figueiredo (PI) and Prof Majlinda Lako, to do culturing and cryopreservation of limbal stem cells.
Limbal stem cell biology is an expanding field and has become increasingly translational over the past 12 years. An understanding of the clinical applications of the research you conduct is essential. You will also need to have some understanding of both limbal stem cell culture and cryopreservation and preferably previous laboratory training in these.
You must have a medical degree and will have completed your foundation training. You will be interested in a future career in Ophthalmology and will complete a PhD in limbal stem cell biology during the period of employment.
