Applications are invited from experienced clinicians for the post of Professor in Infectious Disease, Virology or Microbiology. The appointee will join the Centre for Immunology and Infectious Disease within the Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science at Barts and the London School of Medicine & Dentistry.  

The Blizard Institute of Cell and Molecular Science is based within an award-winning building at Whitechapel.  This exciting environment contains world class facilities for biomedical research based on an innovative open plan design and includes core facilities for Imaging, Flow Cytometry, Genomics and Transgenic research. The appointee will hold an honorary consultant contract with Barts and The London NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will have an established research group with an excellent publication record in an area complementary to existing research in the Centre. Candidates with an interest in HIV, TB, or other infections prevalent in our local population (including paediatric infectious disease) are particularly encouraged to apply.  Applicants will be required to have MRCP, MRCPath or equivalent, and specialist training in Infectious Disease, Medical Microbiology or Medical Microbiology (Virology) as appropriate.

This indefinite appointment will be made on the Clinical Academic scale, with salary in the range of £74,504-£100,446 per annum depending on experience and seniority/threshold, plus London Allowance of £2,161 per annum. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
