Details Health Data Research UK UKRI Innovation / Rutherford Fund Intermediate / Senior Clinical Fellowship The Usher Institute is seeking to recruit a Clinical Health Data Research UK UKRI Innovation / Rutherford Fund Fellow, to start by mid-February 2018. The fellow will deliver a programme of high quality original health-related research, harnessing the use and interpretation of large and/or multi-dimensional health related data, aligned to the ambitions of HDR UK and the UK government’s industrial strategy. The research may be conducted in collaboration with an industrial partner and should be of relevance to, and designed to impact on, human health and disease. HDR UK UKRI Innovation / Rutherford Fund research fellowships aim to foster a new generation of numerate health data science researchers. They will work at the boundaries between the disciplines of health and biomedical informatics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, epidemiology and others, disrupt traditional scientific methods, and apply novel analytical tools (e.g., applying artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing to structured and unstructured health data) to accelerate discovery and application across a spectrum of pressing health research challenges. Fellows will be among the first in the cohort of future research leaders of the recently established UK-wide institute of health and biomedical informatics research, Health Data Research UK (HDR UK: https://www.mrc.ac.uk/about/institutes-units-centres/uk-institute-for-health-and-biomedical-informatics-research/). Applications are welcomed from highly numerate, innovative, research active clinicians who have completed a period of research training to acquire a PhD or equivalent and wish to pursue a career that involves the application of their clinical and research expertise in a data-driven, interdisciplinary environment. For an informal discussion about the fellowships please contact Prof Sudlow at cathie.sudlow@ed.ac.uk. We are happy to arrange for interviews to be conducted via video using Skype or equivalent if required. Fellowships commence 15 February 2018.
