Details This post provides the opportunity for higher and advanced sub-specialist specialist training in cardiovascular medicine, especially for candidates seeking subspecialisation in electrophysiology, alongside research and contribution to teaching in a variety of cardiology subspecialties. The clinical duties of the post are expected to be located in University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) and will be tailored to training needs where possible. UHBFT provides excellent teaching in cardiology and its subspecialties including interventional electrophysiology and advanced device training. The postholder will have responsibilities for the care of inpatients and outpatients with the full range of cardiology problems, and teaching and assessment of medical students and postgraduate students. The entry level of training will be tailored to the training needs of the successful applicant.
Further Information Successful candidates should have a range of relevant qualifications and experience including: General Medical Council registration; Membership of Royal College of Physicians, or equivalent; evidence of achievement of Foundation competences or equivalent; Must hold a higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) in a relevant subject area; evidence of good progress in clinical training and that completion of specialty training may be accommodated either during or after the 4 year period of the CL award; the candidate must be at ST3 or above. The post holder will be trained within the large cardiology department at UHBFT including one of the largest clinical EP groups in the region providing subspecialty treatment for all types of arrhythmias. His/her research will be embedded into a world-class translational research environment for atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias “from molecule to man”
